Homoeophatic Mode of Action
Acidum benzoicum helps relieve symptoms of a uric acid diathesis, with highly coloured, offensive urine and gouty symptoms.
Bryonia alba acts on the joints to counteract effusions from the synovial linings that lead to stitching pain and hot swelling. It relieves stiff, painful knees, hot swelling of the feet, and pain that is worse for movement and better for rest and cold.
Calcarea carbonica has a strengthening and analgesic action on the skeletal system and relieves weakness in the small of the back and the extremities, swelling of the joints especially the knee, burning of the soles of the feet and cramps in the calves. It also treats arthritic nodosites.
Colchicum autumnale acts on muscular tissue, periosteum of bones and synovial membranes of joints to relieve chronic conditions with tearing pains. It treats symptoms of pins and needles in hands and wrists, stiff and inflamed joints, polyarthritic pain, inflammation of the big toe, gout of the heel and coldness and oedema of the legs and feet.
Guaiacum officinale acts on fibrous tissue to treat rheumatic and arthritic pain and relieve contraction of limbs. It is indicated for sciatica, lumbago, tearing gout pain and immovable stiffness of joints.
Kalium muriaticum has an anti-inflammatory action in sub-acute conditions. It treats bursitis of the knee, swelling of the joints, stiff hands when writing and shooting pains from the small of the back to the feet.
Ledum palustre has an analgesic effect on gouty pains that shoot through the foot and leg. It relieves cracking (crepitation) in joints, easy spraining of ankles, swelling of the ball of the big toe and gouty nodosites. It has an anti-inflammatory action on swollen ankles, painful soles and rheumatism that starts in the lower limb joints and gradually ascends.
Lycopodium clavatum acts to reduce uric acid levels in the urinary system. It relieves chronic gout with chalky deposits in joints, contraction of toes and fingers, pain in the heel as if treading on a pebble, sciatica, profuse sweat of the feet, cramps in the calves and toes when in bed at night, numbness and tearing in the limbs, pain in the small of the back and twitching and jerking of limbs.
Silicea has a nutritive action on the skeletal system and treats sciatica, cramps in calves and soles, loss of power in legs, tremulous hands when in use, pain in the knee, tense, contracted calves and painful soles.
