In this privacy policy, Lifestyle Health provides insight into the way in which data is collected, stored and protected. In addition, clarity is given about the retention periods and the processing of data. Lifestyle Health strictly adheres to the legal requirements as laid out in the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013, and thus creates a safe environment for every visitor of our website. We guarantee, to the best of our ability, data protection for every Lifestyle Health customer.

SECTION 1: Collecting Personal Information

  1. Purchases

Purchases at Lifestyle Health can be done with or without an account. If you make a purchase on our online shop, we collect personal information. To guide the buying and selling process in the right direction, the following personal data is collected:

  • First and last name
  • Street name and house number
  • Postal code and address
  • Date of birth
  • Country
  • E-mail address
  • Phone number

Lifestyle Health of course needs this information for delivering the ordered products. In addition, we automatically receive the IP address of every visitor. This allows us to protect our online environment and also optimize your internet experience.

2. Reasons for Data Collection

Lifestyle Health has several reasons for collecting data from our customers. Customer data is collected and stored for the following purposes:

  • To comply with the agreements between customers and Lifestyle Health regarding the delivery of purchased products
  • To create and manage your account at Lifestyle Health
  • To provide excellent service to the customer
  • To be able to provide the customer warranty
  • To prevent fraud
  • To conduct market research and analysis

3. Newsletter

Lifestyle Health informs its customers bi-monthly about new products, offers and other updates. Lifestyle Health does not need permission for this. We will only send the newsletter to you if you give us permission to do so. To send the newsletter to you we collect the following information:

  • First name
  • Gender
  • Email address

This information is needed to personalise the newsletter by name and gender. You can unsubscribe at any time. You can do this via the newsletter or via the contact information that can be found in Section 10.

  1. Access to Data

Lifestyle Health strives to offer our customers the best service. To offer maximum support, the departments of accounting and of customer service have access to personal information. Employees of these departments adhere to discretion and confidentiality clauses in the Lifestyle Health employment contracts. 

SECTION 2: PERMISSION

When you place an order, complete a transaction or return a purchase from Lifestyle Health, we assume that you consent to the storage of your data for one of those specific reasons. When Lifestyle Health asks for your personal information for other purposes you will be asked for explicit consent and you will have the option to refuse. In the unlikely event that you would like to rescind your initial consent it is possible to do so. You can contact our customer service for this.

SECTION 3: DISCLOSURE OF DATA

If you violate the Terms and Conditions of using the Lifestyle Health online store we have the right to release your personal information. This also applies if the law requires us to do so.

SECTION 4: DATA STORAGE

Lifestyle Health stores personal information for the above purposes only. Personal data will be kept for approximately 10 years so that Lifestyle Health can offer its customers service and support where necessary up to 10 years after purchase. Customers also have years of warranty on some products, which makes this storage duration necessary. After this period of 10 years is lapsed, personal data is permanently erased.

4.1. Account Information

Account details of customers remain important as long as the customer has an account with Lifestyle Health. The account details will remain in storage for as long as the account is active. When a customer decides to remove his or her account, these details will be removed from our system permanently. Questions about stored personal information or the management of your account can be directed to our customer service.

4.2. Newsletter Account Information

The data associated with a newsletter subscription with Lifestyle Health remains valid as long as the customer is registered to receive the newsletter. Our newsletter comes with the option to unsubscribe with one click. This means that customers will rescind their permission when they make use of this option. Should you unsubscribe from the newsletter you will no longer receive newsletters from Lifestyle Health.

SECTION 5: COOKIES

Cookies provide your computer with information of previous visits to Lifestyle Heath. A cookie is a small text file that is stored in the browser of your computer, smartphone or tablet when you first visit our website. In this way we can see that you have used our site beforehand. In addition the website will work faster and with a greater ease of use. Visitors to our website have the option to disable cookies as desired, via the use of our pop up box.

SECTION 6: THIRD PARTIES

Lifestyle Health does not provide information to third parties which would compromise the privacy of our customers, unless there are legitimate reasons or it is necessary for its services and/or registrations. Lifestyle Health uses services from third parties for transactions and the provision of our services. Third parties collect, use or process data only for the services that they provide to Lifestyle Health. 

Some external service providers have their own privacy policies. Lifestyle Health provides them with information about purchase related transactions. These companies follow their own privacy policies and we recommend that you read their privacy policies carefully to find out how they handle your data. 

If you leave our website or are referred to a website of a third party, the general Terms and Conditions and the Privacy Policy of Lifestyle Health are no longer in force.

6.1. MailChimp

Lifestyle Health works together with MailChimp and also provides the company with data. MailChimp easily processes all data and sets up campaigns. MailChimp helps Lifestyle Health with sending the bi-monthly newsletters.

6.2. Whatsapp Business

Whatsapp Business provides the live chat on our website. This way visitors and customers can come into contact with customer service at any time to ask their questions about products or their orders. By engaging with the Lifestyle Health Whatsapp Business account, customers agree to the fact that their cellphone number and registered name with Whatsapp will be made available to our customer service team so that they can best assist the customer. This service is purely optional to the customer and is one way of many that customers can engage with Lifestyle Health staff. The Whatsapp Business account is run from one cellphone that is managed by the Information Regulator at Lifestyle Health. This cellphone has software installed to ensure that the device is secure and data stored on it is protected. Despite all of these measures, by using the Whatsapp Business chat, the customer inherently acknowledges that there remains a risk of breach of their personal information and does not hold Lifestyle Health liable in case of such a breach of personal information.

6.3. Google Analytics

Lifestyle Health works together with Google Analytics to collect the statistics from our website. This gives us a clear picture of among other things, the number of visitors on the website, the number of page views and the average time a visitor spends on the page. Google has its own privacy policy and does everything in its power to secure and protect the data on its computer systems.

6.4. Chuffed

Chuffed is a hosting company that keeps web shops, blogs and corporate websites up and running in an affordable and reliable way. In addition to the hosting of websites, Chuffed helps companies with domain registration (nationally and internationally), E-mail and protection against hackers. To ensure that this runs smoothly, Lifestyle Health shares data with Chuffed. 

6.5. PayFast

PayFast is a payments processing service for South Africans and South African websites enabling easy, secure and instant transfer of money from online buyers to sellers.

With PayFast Lifestyle Health can accept secure payments from online buyers in a variety of ways. We process credit cards from anywhere in the world, Instant EFT (bank transfers with South Africa’s four biggest banks get instantly verified), Bitcoin and many more. Lifestyle Health shares data with PayFast has made an agreement with Payfast about the processing of data.

SECTION 7: SECURITY

Lifestyle Health takes the protection of your details seriously and takes appropriate measures to prevent misuse, loss, unauthorized access, unwanted disclosure and unauthorized modification. If you feel that your data is not properly secured or there are indications of abuse, please contact our customer service.

Vend is the database of Lifestyle Health on which all customer details are stored. Our database is well protected against unauthorized persons. Only employees of Lifestyle Health have access to Vend via a login name and a unique password. The login names and passwords are different for each employee. These passwords consist of unique codes of capitalized and lower-cased letters, numbers and punctuation marks. Our employees have specific access rights within the company. They only have access to the data and information that is needed to carry out their work.

Lifestyle Health strives to anonymize as much data as possible. This data can therefore not be directly linked to a specific customer. They can however still be used for analysis. 

SECTION 8: VIEW, MODIFY OR DELETE DATA

You have the right to view, modify or delete your personal data. In addition you have the right to rescind your permission of data processing or object to the processing of your data by Lifestyle Health. You have the right to data portability. This means that you may submit a request to us to send the personal data that we have at our disposal in a file to you or another organisation mentioned by you. You can send a request for inspection, correction, deletion, data transfer of your information, or cancellation of your consent to the processing of your personal data to our customer service. To ensure that the request for access is made by you, we will ask for certified identification documents such as your ID or passport. This is for protection of your privacy. We respond to your request as soon as possible, but at least within four weeks.

SECTION 9: CHANGES TO PRIVACY POLICY

Lifestyle Health reserves the right to change the privacy policy at any time. Changes will be immediately visible after placing on the website. 

SECTION 10: INFORMATION OFFICER

Lifestyle Health has appointed Daniel Martin as the company’s Information officer. He has signed and agreed to the appointment of Information Officer and has been registered as such. He has agreed to ensure implementation of all measures as set out in this Privacy Policy. The agreement has been stored away in a locked cabinet within the office.

SECTION 11: BREECH PROCEDURES

Any breech of personal information that is discovered will be managed in the following 2 ways:

  1. The individual/s whose personal information was breeched shall be informed as soon as is reasonably possible.
  2. The Regulator shall be informed of such breech.

All employees at Lifestyle Health have signed an agreement that they will inform the Information Officer as soon as they realise a breech has occurred.

SECTION 12: POPI DOCUMENTATION

All POPI related documentation, including this policy will be stored in a POPI file which is locked away in a safe cupboard within the offices of Lifestyle Health. All electronic POPI related documentation will be stored in a password-protected file on the main office’s computer system. Should a customer or
Officer require access to the centre’s POPI policies then upon this request then the Information Officer, or her proxy shall grant immediate access to these policies.
